Where people wanted to be in Germany until 1989? East Germany was under Socialism, USSR and west Germany was under Capitalism, right?

Who wants to be in Venezuela, what is Socialism, right? Venezuela was capitalism and the one of the richest nation on earth until they changed to socialism in the late 90s, right? Venezuela give up their weapons under socialism, how is it now over there about safety?
